SAMSUNG UNVEILS QLED SMART TV

Samsung has launched the new wide range of QLED TVs. It is tagged Q-lead, an acronym for 'quantum dot technology applied to LED screens. The device is seen as a competitive upgrade to LG's OLED (organic light-emitting diode) TV sets.

Samsung also added new version of Q9, Q8 and Q7 series which were unveiled to her customers in the showroom at Las Vegas at the CES consumer electronics show.

The QLED sets features:
  • Improved colour at any level of brightness and different sublets visible at peak luminance between 1,500 and 2,000 nits. Its is an improvement that enables viewers appreciate movie scenes no matter how light or dark they appear.
  • The other significant change is the extension of Samsung’s Smart Hub to smartphones. While watching one TV program, viewers can peruse available content on their smartphones using Samsung’s “Smart View” app and start live TV programs and video-on-demand services. They can also receive alerts on their mobile devices about content, such as show times and availability.
  • It also featured two new Smart TV services. Sports shows a summary of a customer’s favourite sports team and its recent and upcoming games, and Music, which can identify songs as they are being played live on a TV show.
  • The QLED TVs are designed to affix flush against the wall. Alternatively, two new stands were will be attatched to the set: a studio stand which resembles an easel with a painting, and a gravity stand which looks like a contemporary sculpture.
  •  The smart remote lets users control most connected TV devices from a single source.
